This 1-day course is designed to help GP registrars in ST3 and newly qualified GPs take control of their careers and maximise their potential. Covering essential skills and strategies, the course will guide you through the process of finding and securing the right GP job, negotiating contracts, managing your finances, and exploring career opportunities both within the UK and abroad. Key Topics Include: Securing the right salaried or locum GP role Negotiating GP contracts, setting terms, and managing taxes/pensions Evaluating GP partnerships, agreements, and finances Maximising your income and take-home pay Developing a portfolio career and specialist interests Starting out as a private GP and exploring alternative GP careers (e.g. overseas, MOD, ship’s doctor, humanitarian medicine) Comparing job offers and avoiding common pitfalls This course will equip you with the knowledge and practical tools to confidently manage your GP career, avoid career traps, and build a rewarding, sustainable future in general practice.
